You’re going on vacation – lucky you! But before you get too excited about all that sun, sand and sea. first you’ve got to pack, and packing like a pro means knowing what to take and what to leave at home. Why be weighed down by a load of unnecessary beauty items you won’t use when all you really need are these five essentials!
Put up a screen
It goes without saying that if you’re going to be exposed to the sun, you’ll need a good sunscreen! Long gone are the days of slathering ourselves with sun oil and baking our bods to a crisp – these days we all need protection from the harmful UV rays whatever our skin tone, and using an SPF45 product is a good place to start. And don’t forget, you’ll still need protection on overcast days and when you’re taking that dip in the pool!
If you’re unable to get your lashes tinted in time for your trip, taking along a good waterproof mascara is a must! Keeping make-up to a minimum in the summer is the goal, and sometimes all you need is a coat of mascara to brighten up your eyes (especially after a late night at the beach!) Using a mascara that you can apply and not worry about for the rest of the day gives you time to focus on fun and will take you from morning to night, in the pool and out!
Bring the balm
Many of us can’t live without our lip balm so why not use one that does double duty as a sunscreen and lip stain? There are some awesome balms on the market these days that do just that, protecting your lips from the sun, keeping them super-smooth while adding a hint of color that will last all day long.
Just a tint
Let your skin breath on vacation by ditching that heavy foundation and opting for a light moisturizer with a touch of color. Most tinted moisturizers are formulated with SPF protection, just the right amount of color to give the skin an even, smooth tone and a light finish that won’t slide off your face as the day heats up.
Give the locks some love
The ‘beach hair’ look may be on trend but the combination of sun, salt water and sand can leave your locks looking dull and tired. To avoid your hair care routine cutting into vacation time, a leave-in conditioner is a simple solution that will not only keep your hair tangle-free but, if you get one with that all-important SPF, you’ll be adding an extra layer of protection too.
These five basic items will keep you looking great with the minimum of fuss, giving you more time to enjoy every precious moment of that much-needed vacay!
