If you have an uncomplicated pregnancy, these nine months can be the most beautiful of your life, but even then, they also tend to come with some challenges, especially when it comes to your skin. Due to hormonal changes and your changing body, your skin might suffer and get a lot of breakouts, spots, or dryness. Therefore, in this post let´s take a look at how to take care of your skin during your pregnancy:
Protecting your skin from the sun is always important but during pregnancy, this becomes extra important. Especially if you live in a place with strong sunshine or you are pregnant during the summer months, make sure to take some extra care of your skin when it comes to UV protection. Because of hormones and changes in your body, your pigment can also change, and this can lead to the typical dark pregnancy spots in your face with the pregnancy beard or mustache as the most famous example.
Water, water, water
Especially during your pregnancy, make sure to drink plenty of water and to hydrate enough. Your skin might get dehydrated faster during these months and also for your health and the baby´s health it is super important to drink enough water.
Drinking water will help you hydrate from the inside out but it is also important to hydrate and moisturize your skin from the outside. And this means, getting enough moisturizer and creams for yourself to treat your skin a little extra! Make sure to moisturize after the shower and if you can, also before going to bed to make sure your skin can recover during the night. This applies to your face, body, and hands so it´s time to get yourself some great creams for all these areas!
Exfoliating is always important for your skin so you shouldn´t escape this routine during your pregnancy either. Particularly for the moisturizer to work properly, it is important that dead cells are gone, and your pores are open so make sure to exfoliate every three days to avoid the dry skin that tends to come with pregnancy.
Especially if your skin is sensitive to stretch marks, you will want to take extra care of the areas where stretch marks might appear during your pregnancy such as your belly and your breasts. Get yourself a special oil or cream for stretch marks and start using it daily from the beginning of your pregnancy, even if you don´t see any signs of stretch marks yet.
